Communications and Operations Laboratory
The laboratory
includes antennas and equipment for communications with spacecraft and landers.
Research focuses on the development of low cost LEO links as well as the
development of an independent deep space network capability
using the Algonquin Radio Observatory.
Our communications and operations research spans
the complete range of systems from the development of student lead nano-satellite
systems that utilize civilian communications bands and provide data
rates of order 10kps-1, to state of the art high data rate
systems of 10Mbits-1. The laboratory has access to the 11m
and 46m antenna at the ARO observatory.
