Royal Commission on the Future of Toronto's Waterfront
Short description of the project that describes the project study area, goals/objectives and activities:
The project study area was the waterfront of Lake Ontario from Burlington to Clarington (GTA) and the Greater Toronto Bioregion. The objectives of the Royal Commission on the Future of Torontoąs Waterfront were to engage in consultations with waterfront stakeholders of the waterfront and provide recommendations to the federal and provincial governments on ways to address waterfront issues. The Royal Commission used the ecosystem approach to integrate environmental, economic and social concerns in developing a wide range of recommendations for waterfront communities, land use planning, watershed management, regional greenways and a continuous Lake Ontario waterfront trail.
