Have games broken reality? Are the problems that McGonigal outlines with reality (uninspiring motivations, lack of epic moments/wins/environments, social networks in disarray) based on the fact that she is a product of gamer culture and therefore has an unrealistic expectation of reality?
I felt a certain disembodiment implicit in a lot of the games that she cited as examples. It seems to me that if games are implemented as McGonigal hopes that the mind/physical balance of reality would be off. How would implementing gaming mechanics affect the physical world?
Are games like Superstructure and World Without Oil simply guided online discussion groups?
