Tony Oursler’s work spans from the video era to the present digital age. His CD-ROM, “Fantastic Prayers” (2000) gave me a bit more context for thinking about Chris Marker’s “Immemory.” The website for Fantastic Prayers offers a breakdown of the piece’s navigation, as well as brief excerpts (including a navigable 360-degree panorama of Ludlow and a short clip of Sonic Youth). His video art tends to work with expanding notions of screens and much of his work is projected on organically-shaped surfaces, smoke and buildings.
