Canadian Raising — "eye" /aɪ/
Considered to be part of the same process that happens to the /aʊ/ sound, the price lexical set, /aɪ/ also "raises" significantly in the speech of most of our dialect donors in the Ontario region, [əɪ]. As with the mouth lexical set, this only occurs before voiceless consonants, and never before a voiced consonant, pause or syllable break.
