Line Spread Distributions of Point Sources




If the above represents the energy distribution of two pairs of points, how will each pair be perceived? For example, will the green pair be perceived as two points that are just further apart than the red pair? Not necessarily. Remember the above represents the energy distributions of the stimulus. In order for these stimuli to be perceived, they must be imaged on the retina. The point spread functions of these energy distributions are much broader than their energy distributions.
