Visual Sensitivity

Cone receptors tend to have a one-to-one relationship with the optics nerves. Multiple rods converge on to a single optic nerve. This situation, in part, accounts for the greater sensitivity of the rod receptors over that of the cones to low light levels. The rods summate neural signals from several receptors.
