Lars T. Lih, received a B. Phil in Politics from Oxford University and a Ph.D. from the Princeton Politics Department. He has taught at Duke University and Wellesley College and is now an independent scholar living in Montreal. He is the author of Bread and Authority in Russia, 1914-1921 (University of California Press, 1990) and co-editor of Stalin's Letters to Molotov 1925-1936 ( Yale 1995). At present he is completing a study of Bolshevik doctrine entitled "The Bolshevik Program"
