Brian D. Page
received his Master of Arts in History from the University of Memphis and is a Ph.D. student at The Ohio State University. His publications include, "'Stand by the Flag': Nationalism and African-American Celebrations on the Fourth of July in Memphis, 1966-1887 in Tennessee Historical Quarterly 58 (Winter 1999). He was the research assistant for an edited book, forthcoming, by Kenneth W. Goings, entitled, Give me Memphis, Tennessee:" African Americans Speak About Memphis Tennessee. He is currently studying the contradictory relationship between race and modernity in Memphis, tentatively entitled, "Modern Rebels: Race Versus the Memphis Street Railway Company, 1890-1920.".
