York University to mark International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination with lecture examining Science, Race and Culture

TORONTO, March 16, 1999 -- To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Professor Thom Alcoze (Northern Arizona University) will examine the relationship between science, race and culture during a lecture at York University, Thursday, March 18, 1999.

Alcoze is best known for his work in developing culturally sensitive science curriculum materials for the Apache, Dine (Navajo), Hopi and Zuni First Nations in the U.S. Sponsored by York University's Faculty of Pure and Applied Science and the Centre for Race and Ethnic Relations, the event is free, and open to the public.
