YORK PROFESSORS ON HAND FOR EXPERT ANALYSIS OF THE DEBATE OVER BILL 136
TORONTO, August 26, 1997 -- As the debate over the Ontario government's Bill 136 continues, York University offers the following experts to analyze the legislation and the participants in this debate:
Bob Drummond is a political science professor with extensive knowledge of Ontario politics and provincial public policy. Daniel Drache is a political scientist and the director of York's Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies. His research and teaching focuses on industrial policy, social policy and the effects of globalization on work and employment. He can discuss the relationship between government and private-sector restructuring, whether government downsizing will make the public sector more responsive, and can compare the Ontario experience with other jurisdictions. Prof. Drache has published numerous books, covering topics such as social and fiscal policy reform in Canada, the changing workplace, and social democratic strategies for Ontario. Harry Glasbeek is a professor emeritus at York University's Osgoode Hall Law School, and an expert in labour law. Carla Lipsig-Mumme is the director of York University's Centre for Research on Work and Society, and an expert on workplace and labour issues.
