The following four panels show the 2000 UTC (1500 LST) 10 m winds (knots)
for increasing values of lake surface temperature. As the strength of lake
breezes decreases with decreasing land-lake temperature difference, deviations
in wind direction from west-southwesterly become less significant. In the
absence of lake breezes (+20K case), winds over most of southwestern Ontario
are similar to those in Michigan. Note also the significant increase in
wind speed over Lake Huron and western Lake Erie.
