Lucas 2. 1. 15 - 2. 47 (=acta apostolorum )

1.

15 And in these days Peter standing up in the middle of the sisters and brothers said (and there was a crowd of people together, about a hundred and twenty),

16 Men, brothers, it was needed that the text be fulfilled, which the sacred breath spoke before through the mouth of David concerning Judas, the guide to those who took Jesus,

17 because  he was numbered among us, and received a share in this service.

18 (This man then obtained a field from the wage of his iniquity; and falling headfirst, he cracked in the middle, and all his guts gushed out.

19 And it became known to all the residents in Jerusalem; in that in their language that field was called Akeldama, that is, The field of blood.)

20 For it is written in the book of Psalms,

Let his habitation be made desolate, And let no man dwell there: and,

His office let another take.

21 Of the men therefore that have accompanied us all the time that the kyrios Jesus went in and went out among us,

22 beginning from the baptism of John, until the day that he was received up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of the resurrection.

23 And they put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was named Justus, and Matthias.

24 And they prayed, and said,

You, kyrios, who know the hearts of all, show of these two the one whom you have chosen,

25 to take the place in this service and mission from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.

26 And they gave them lots; and the lot fell to Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

2.

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all together in one place.

2 And suddenly there came from the sky a sound like  the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared to them tongues splitting apart, like fire; and it sat on each one of them.

4 And they were all filled with the sacred breath, and began to speak with other tongues, as the breath allowed them to express their opinion.

5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem Judaeans, devout men, from every nation under the sky.

6 And when this sound was heard, a crowd came together, and were confounded, because everyone heard them speaking in his own language.

7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying,

Look, are not all these who speak Galilaeans?

8 And how we hear, everyone in our own language from where we were born?

9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judaea and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia,

10 in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and tourists from Rome, both Judaeans and proselytes,

11 Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of the God.

12 And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying to one  another,

What does this mean?

13 But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke out to them,

Judaean men, and those staying in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my speech.

15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose;  for it’s the third hour of the day.

16 but this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel:

17 And it will be in the last days, says the God,

I shall pour forth from my breath on all flesh:

And your sons and your daughters will prophesy,

And your young men will see visions,

And your old men will dream dreams:

18 Yes and on my slaves men and women in those days shall I pour forth of my breath; and they will prophesy.

19 And I shall show wonders in the sky above,

And signs on the earth below;

Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:

20 The sun will be turned into darkness,

And the moon into blood,

Before the coming of the day of the kyrios,

That great and notable [day].

21 And it shall be, that whoever will call on the name of the kyrios shall be saved.

22 Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by the God for you by mighty works and wonders and signs which  the God did by him among you, even as you yourselves know;

23 him, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of the God, you by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay:

24 whom the God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death: because it was not possible that he should be bound to it.

25 For David said concerning him,

I beheld the kyrios always before my face;

For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26 Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;

Moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope:

27 Because you will not leave my soul to Hades,

Neither will you grant  your sacred to see decay.

28 You made  known to me the ways of life;

you will make me full of gladness with your countenance.

29 Men, brothers, I may say to you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that the God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins he would set [one] upon his throne;

31 he foreseeing [this] spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was he left to Hades, nor did his flesh see decay.

32 This Jesus the God raised up, for which we all are witnesses.

33 Therefore exalted by the right hand of the God, and having received from the Father the promise of the sacred breath, he poured forth this, which you see and hear.

34 For David ascended not to the skies: but he said himself,

The kyrios said to my Lord,

Sit on my right hand,

35 Till I make your enemies the footstool for your feet.

36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that the God has made him both kyrios and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.

37 Now when they heard [this,] they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,

Men, brothers, what shall we do?

38 And Peter [said] to them,

Change your mind, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the sacred breath.

39 For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are far off, [even] as many as the kyrios the God will  call to him.

40 And with many other words he gave evidence, and exhorted them, saying,

Save yourselves from this crooked generation.

41 They then who received his word were baptized: and there were added  in that day about three thousand souls.

42 Then they continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and community, in the breaking of bread and the prayers.

43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

44 And all who had trust were together, and held all things common;

45 and they sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, according as anyone had need.

46 And day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 praising the God, and having favour with all the people. And the kyrios added to them day by day those that were saved.
