at York University April 24 and 25, 1998
Strategies of Critique is an annual student conference hosted by York University's graduate students in the Social & Political Thought. This interdisciplinary program aims to encourage, develop and advance the analysis of social and political ideas in order to integrate intellectual interests common to the humanities and social sciences.
This year our topic is concerned with the theoretical as well as practical intersections of (in)justice and subjectivity. Applicants to the conference were encouraged to submit papers and projects which expand upon these sites of convergence as they are inscribed, articulated, and informed by
normativities pornographies social controls public/domestic spheres media emancipations emotivities
rationalities spaces textualities legislations economies objects emigrations
rights performativities disciplines defences perpetrations properties
The submission deadline was something like January 31, 1998.
Submissions were selected by blind review; abstracts were not to exceed 375 words. Applicants were asked to submit personal information and the title of their proposed presentation on a separate sheet.
