Doing Data at the Reference Desk: (some of) what you'll need to know
Walter W. Giesbrecht, Data Librarian, Scott Library, York University.
Get a practical introduction to data and statistics - what they are, what they are not, where they are found, and how you can use them to answer questions at the reference desk. Learn about the various types of data and statistics, primary and secondary sources of data (including some of the latest results from the 2001 Census) as well as service implications of "doing data". Intended primarily for the non-specialist.
Convenor: Amanda Wakaruk, York University
