A General Search Engine would not necessarily be the best place to start looking for a general overview of a topic.  General Search Engines are good for very specific searches, such as specific persons, places, or things. Also, General Search Engines often retrieve huge numbers of results for a given search, requiring you to sift through them to find something useful.
