Logging in to Webpost from Windows 3.x

If you have a WEBPOST account, you can access your YorkInfo files as a Novell network drive using using either a PC or a Macintosh. Here is the procedure for PC users who wish to login using a PC running Windows 3.1

  • Run the Netware Users Tools utility. Depending on your desktop setup, this utility can be accesses as a separate icon or via the Windows File Manager under the Disk/Network Connections menu.
  • When the Netware Users Tools utility is starting, click on Netware Connections or press Alt-C
  • Scroll through the Resources list and select the Webpost server as shown below.

  • Now, double-click on the Webpost server and enter your User Name and Password:

  • There, you have logged into the server. The next step is to "map" your Webpost home directory to a drive letter.
  • Click on Drive Connections or press Alt-D. Navigate to your home directory by double-clicking your way down through the list of directories and files. For example:
  • Double-click on WEBPOST\SYS
  • Double-click on Home
  • Double-click on Faculty
  • Double-click on Academic
  • Scroll to your Webpost home directory

Map your Home directory to a drive letter by dragging your home directory to a desired Netware drive letter. You can also select a drive letter and click on the "Map" button shown at the bottom right corner of the Netware Drive Connections screen.

Next Steps

You have now logged into the Webpost server as a Novell user and mapped your home directory to a local drive letter. You can now drag and drop files into your WWW directory using Windows File Manager or even DOS copy commands. In additions you can directly edit your WWW pages using any of your favourite HTML Tools.
