The Environment Program supports activities that promote a better understanding of the relationship between environmental contaminants and children's health by developing key pieces of information necessary to educate and motivate citizens and health professionals to become involved in setting environmental priorities for their community.

Research Development Initiatives Program
The broad purpose of the Research Development Initiatives Program is to elicit and support a variety of activities which will contribute to the structuring, integration and transfer of knowledge in the social sciences and humanities. The specific objectives of the program are: *to encourage critical analysis of the intellectual and social contribution of research and research training in the social sciences and humanities; * to assess the state of development and the accomplishments and strengths of research; and * to reflect on future directions and challenges for research and transfer of research knowledge. It is expected that the average grant will be between $10,000 and $25,000 per year, although requests for $50,000/year for up to three years will be considered.

International Society of Arboriculture Research Trust
John Z. Duling Grant Program
This program provides up to $5,000 for innovative, basic/applied research and education projects related to the aboriculture industry. Specific areas include: ecological benefits of the urban forest; economic benefits of the urban forest; innovative tree-care techniques and practices; urban tree genetics; impact of the urban forest on energy consumption; basic tree biology.

Ontario HIV Treatment Network
Various Grants
The Ontario HIV Treatment Network is offering Research Operating Grants, Major Equipment Grants, and Career Development Awards to support the development of a robust field of basic, clinical, epidemiological and socio-behavioural scientific research in Ontario. $3 million will be distributed annually for Ontario-based HIV/AIDS research in the disciplines of basic, clinical, epidemiological and socio-behavioural science. Research Operating Grants will fund $200,000/year for up to five years. Major Equipment Grants are valued up to $50,000/year. Career Developmeng Grants offer postdoctoral fellowships ($29,469-$46,844/year) and scientist awards ($60,000/year).
