NATO Fellowships Program
These one-year research fellowships are aimed at promoting study and
research leading to publication in areas of particular interest to NATO,
primarily Alliance security and political issues. Individual Fellowships,
valued at 240,000 Belgian Francs, are intended for individual research
workers. Institutional Fellowships, valued at 250,000 Belgian Francs,
are for research projects designed to stimulate cooperation between relevant
university departments or recognised centres of international studies.

Manfred Wörner Fellowship
This fellowship, worth up to 800,000 Belgian Francs, supports research
on a topic of particular interest to NATO. For example: * current questions
on international and external Atlantic security; * public perceptions of
the Atlantic Alliance and of European Security; * the new European Security
Architecture and the development of the European Security and Defence Identity
within the Alliance; * the North Atlantic Cooperation Council and the Partnership
for Peace processes; * analysis of the Alliance's role in the development
of more stable, peaceful and friendly international relations.

Child Care Visions
Funds are available to support research in child care issues that produces
results which will be of use to the communities involved and to governments
and other funding bodies in the planning delivery, and evaluation of child
care services. Specifically, the following areas will be supported: * child
care policy; * infrastructure and capacity building; * service delivery;
* quality; * disability; and * the effects of child care.

NSERC
University Faculty Awards
In order to decrease the under-representation of women faculty positions
in the natural sciences and engineering, NSERC is offering the University
Faculty Awards to encourage Canadian universities to appoint very promising
women researchers to tenure-track positions in science and engineering.
NSERC will contribute $40,000 to universities towards the award holder's
salary and fringe benefits. (The actual salary of the recipient is determined
by the university.) Awards may be held for up to five years.
Deadline: January 1. (For future competitions, the deadline will
be November 1)
