Description
Increasing the success rates of academic research is a global challenge, as many innovative ideas languish in research labs, either because there is not a good technology/market fit, or because the team/expertise to commercialize the technology is not available locally. At Lassonde, we developed an experiential multi-disciplinary graduate course to address this, during which student research projects are used to provide a high-impact experiential learning opportunity.
The AIF grant will allow us to expand this to leading international universities, through the creation of a virtual global classroom, with participants sharing projects and feedback to increase research commercialization success rate and enhance participant learning outcomes. The course will use video and Miro workspace to be offered asynchronously, with faculty leads curating the experience in each participating institution. Participant teams in each location will get the chance to provide direct feedback to global teams, enhancing international perspectives and stimulating collaboration opportunities.
