Borderless BA in Educational Studies: Leveraging eLearning for internationalization through the development of an online degree

Description

This project will develop a fully online option for students undertaking our Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies, by developing a series of fully online courses that meet the major credit requirements of the degree (5 full courses). Our aim is to increase access to our undergraduate programs for international students and those students who may experience other barriers to face-to-face attendance. Our Faculty is committed to the education of refugee populations and we see innovative eLearning as central to that work. In 2018-19, we will work with a cohort from the Borderless Higher Education for Refugees (BHER) project to offer them our undergraduate degree in Educational Studies remotely. We see this pilot as an excellent opportunity to explore the affordances and challenges of e-learning with international cohorts, to refine a fully online major in Educational Studies, and to continue the humanitarian work begun under the auspices of BHER.
