Teaching, Learning, and Leading Development of Mobile-Enhanced Academic Practices

Description

Responding to the rich sociolinguistic context and internationalization of York University, this project addresses the advanced language development of bi/multilingual international students at the undergraduate level and supports teaching and learning of core research inquiry skills and academic practices.   Enriching traditional pedagogies with new technologies, the project will use mobile-enhanced H5P and responsive web design to develop course-embedded teaching and learning modules for first-year international students.  Modules will be integrated across all ESL courses to ensure equity and accessibility and will familiarize students with available library, research services and resources.  

The project builds upon ongoing collaboration among faculty in English as a Second Language (ESL) education in the Department of Languages, Literatures & Linguistics (DLLL) in LAPS and Student Learning and Academic Success at York University Libraries (YUL).  Outcomes from the project will be of interest to researchers in applied linguistics, education, and librarianship, particularly as universities respond to the demand for blended and remote/online learning.
