Implementing Generic Skills for Student Success in the School of Arts, Media, Performance and Design

Description

Implementing Generic Skills for Student Success in the School of Arts, Media, Performance and Design, co-led by Associate Professor Judith Schwarz (Visual Art & Art History) and Assistant Professor Bridget Cauthery (Dance), supports the development of a blended course focused on improving the generic skills of AMPD’s undergraduate students. PANF 1900 “Skills for Success in the Arts” is designed to promote individual success in the arts and academic achievement.  Students will learn essential skills transferable to professions aligned with the arts and the creative industries.  Essential skills for success include critical and analytical thinking; the ability to define and research a thesis, effective writing strategies for a variety of purposes and audiences, as well as presentation and communication skills. The project leads will work closely with AMPD’s LTS team to develop interactive, web-based modules to assist students in the acquisition of these skills.
