Here at York, we strive to support our students in as many ways as possible, even after they graduate. Through the Alumni Perks program, graduates have access to exclusive savings and benefits that we know can make a difference in everyday life after classes end. Take your cue from the thousands of graduates before you and use your hard-earned alumni status to enjoy the many group programs available to you.
Get started by checking out your preferred rates on car and home insurance, earning rewards towards your financial goals with a MBNA MasterCard and taking time to explore how term life, health and dental insurance can protect you and your family. At the same time, why not treat yourself and friends to a night out using the discount ticket options, including the Stratford Festival, Toronto Raptors, Canada’s Wonderland and more! If that isn’t enough, plan a getaway using hotel and car rental discounts. We’ve also recently added a career coaching Perk through a partnership with CareerJoy to help you navigate your career path after leaving York. Why not let them help you find the right career for you!? To learn more about these and other Alumni Perks, visit alumniandfriends.yorku.ca/benefits/alumni-benefits-services.
What does York’s Alumni Perks program have to do with current students, you might ask? Through the Perks program, our alumni support our current students and recent grads in more ways than you can imagine. That’s because a portion of the revenue is invested back into support for alumni and students. This means that every time you make a purchase through the Perks program, a portion of the profit is paid to York and the funds go to support student and grad events, scholarships and other York activities. This includes York’s Mars Rover Project, the Take a Student to Eat (TASTE) mentorship program and many other areas that help keep our community connected and thriving.
“It’s the quintessential win-win situation,” says Melanie McLean, York’s Affinity Business Partner. “Alumni save money on products and services they need, while the University earns revenue that supports the activities of current students as well as graduates.”
With tens of thousands of transactions made just last year, the perks program is a major success by any meure—and York is not stopping there. Community and Alumni Relations is constantly evaluating its roster to bring you the best deals. If you have any suggestions for Perks that we could offer or feedback on the program, please reach out to Melanie McLean at mcleanm@yorku.ca.
