The Student Alumni Ambassador Program (SAAP) at York University is a dynamic initiative designed to bridge the gap between current students and the alumni community. Through meaningful alumni engagement activities, SAAP creates a supportive community where personal and professional growth flourishes, paving the way from student life to becoming engaged and involved York alumni after graduation. Ambassadors represent York U at alumni events, encourage alumni participation, and enhance their professional development through networking, leadership opportunities, and mentorship.

“Serving as a Student Alumni Ambassador has given me the unique opportunity to foster a sense of pride and connection among current students and alumni. This role has allowed me to collaborate closely with the professional Alumni Engagement team and gain a behind-the-scenes look at university operations. Additionally, I’ve acquired valuable experience in event planning and facilitation and developed a deeper appreciation for the role of mentorship in maintaining connections post-graduation.”

“Being a student alumni ambassador was an incredible experience as I got to learn to step out of my comfort zone, help with events that hosted alumni, and facilitate meaningful discussions with alumni from different diverse fields. Even though I discovered this program in my final year of university, I was able to forge connections with peers, alumni and engagement officers that I can say have helped me to become the woman I am today. I would say being a part of this program gave me a more rounded feel of the university experience as an international student, and I am extremely grateful for that.”

“My time as a Student Alumni Ambassador has been very fruitful: by attending events, I've met new people from various disciplines, developed essential networking skills, and strengthened my oratory skills. Engaging with alumni and hearing their stories of success, which started in York, was my favourite part of my time as a Student Alumni Ambassador. As a third-year student, it was a great way to engage with the York community and help give back to the school that has shaped me into the person I am today.”
