The President’s Report 2014 offers an in-depth look at the extraordinary impact that faculty, researchers, students, staff and alumni at York University are having at a local and global level. It explores the many achievements of the University community throughout the year, and showcases the strategic priorities and points of pride that continue to set York apart as a postsecondary institution.
“This report is an important way to celebrate York University and to communicate our recent successes and our story,” said York University President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri. “I believe it is something that every member of our community can be proud of, as it provides a comprehensive review of our best moments of the past year – from outstanding additions to our leadership team to academic achievements of our students and faculty, national sporting titles, alumni and donor impact, commitment to social responsibility and, of course, our continued leadership in sustainability. We have earned our reputation as Canada’s engaged university, and ultimately this report highlights the many ways that York is having a positive impact in every imaginable field of study and across all facets of society.”
Guided by the theme of “impact,” the report examines how the array of initiatives being led by York community members are changing the cities we live in, influencing global research and altering the way people see the world. The report is framed around the University’s points of pride, exploring York’s exceptional programs, innovative teaching, research impact, Glendon Centre of Excellence and sporting excellence, to name a few. The two-page Accolades feature is making its second appearance in the annual report, returning to celebrate the awards and accomplishments of our community members.
This year’s printed report is complemented by an interactive web version that provides a summary of the main points of the report as well as a review of the best social media moments from 2014. Website users can share their favourite aspects of the Accolades section and the Social Media Year in Review on Twitter and Facebook, and have the option to download the full PDF version of the report onto their computers.
As in previous years, and in keeping with the University’s continued focus on environmental sustainability, the report is printed on FSC-certified paper, which contains 30 per cent recycled content.
