David Tsubouchi is a former Ontario politician who was first elected as Markham MPP in 1995. He was appointed solicitor general in 1999 and has served as minister of culture, consumer and commercial relations, and community and social services. He has led the government in welfare reform and initiated a review of the province’s childcare sector.
Prior to entering politics, Tsubouchi was the senior partner in the law firm of Tsubouchi & Nichols & Associates. He also served as ward councillor for the Town of Markham, during which time he chaired several committees, including planning and development, economic alliance, industrial and corporate development, as well as the Markham Historical Museum.
Throughout his career, Tsubouchi has demonstrated a belief in community service. He is a member of the Markham Lions Club and has held directorships with the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, Optimist Club of Markham, Rouge Valley Advisory Commitee and the Unionville Home Society Seniors' Foundation.
