Division of Advancement's Engagement Centre

York’s Engagement Centre, managed by Kamesha Ranatunga, plays a vital role in connecting alumni from York University, Glendon College, Osgoode Hall Law School, and Schulich School of Business with campus. This initiative employs up to 30 dedicated students part-time, who reach out to alumni to update contact information and share exciting opportunities to get involved. Whether it's supporting future generations of students or staying connected with the university, the Engagement Centre ensures that alumni remain engaged with the university’s growth and success. Students will be reaching out with the number 416-736-5309, so, if you see that on your caller ID you know it is our Engagement Centre.

Through these meaningful conversations, students not only gain valuable professional experience but also contribute to building lasting relationships that continue to enrich the York community.

Meet Our Student Callers

We welcome you to get to know a few of the incredible student callers you will connect with!

Zakeera

Hi! I'm Zakeera, a third-year Bachelor of Science student majoring in Global Health with a specialized honours in Health Policy, Management, and Systems. At York University’s Call Centre, I work as a Returning Annual Fund Ambassador (RAFA), where I update alumni records and share information about our ongoing fundraising initiatives. The best part of my role is having insightful conversations with York alumni—I learn something new from every interaction, and I’m truly grateful for that experience.

Anika

Hi! I'm Anika, a third-year BBA student specializing in Business Analytics at the Schulich School of Business, York University. As a Returning Annual Fund Ambassador at the Call Centre, I connect with York alumni—both donors and non-donors—to build, strengthen, and nurture relationships. My role allows me to maximize the impact of available funds, such as Student Financial Aid and Highest Priorities, to support York University students. Every day at the Call Centre, we expand our network, creating a strong community of alumni eager to give back to York University.

Harrish

Hi, I am Harrish, a 2nd year B.A., Hons. Law and Society undergraduate student at York University. I have a strong enthusiasm for learning and am passionate about mentoring. As a Senior Annual Fund Ambassador (SAFA), I am responsible for engaging alumni, securing donations, answering questions and collecting information to update records. The best thing about working as a SAFA in the Call Centre is the number of opportunities I have to work on my communication and mentoring skills where I am able to assist other AFA’s/RAFA’s when needed.
