I am collecting pieces for a quilt. My quilt is growing much too large for one bed.  Or three.  It will probably never really be quilted.  I never learned those careful and beautiful stitches that should connect the quilt top to back and padding.  In the end, I'll store the whole thing in a box marked 'old quilt top - keep.'

But for now the quilt is in process, with is to say pre-storage.  And much of this proto-quilt has come from other stored items, rescued for this new endeavour.  Baby clothes.  Old pyjamas.  Soft cotton apron, circa 1970 belonging to my grandmother.  Pieces of antique unsigned quilt found at garage sale.  Ballerina tights belonging to my aunt at 11.  Dozens of old doilies etc.  Tea stained tablecloths.  Underwear.

I'm also sewing with plastic.  I'm sewing old photographs into the quilt.  A postcard collection that belonged to my grandmother's father fans out like the sun.
