Want to get involved in the Calumet community but have no idea where to start? Do it the fun & easy way by participating in CALUMET ATHLETICS! We’re the branch of the Calumet College Council that is dedicated to informing Calumites about the intramural sporting world of York University. Let the Cougar within you unleash as you compete against the other colleges in various individual & team sports! It is a great way to stay fit, relieve stress, meet new people, and most importantly: be an active member of the Calumet community. There are two tiers (levels) of play for most sports: Tier 1 is competitive to the max; Tier 2 is competitive as well but not to the extent of Tier 1.

Last year, our goal was to earn respect. By claiming 4 championships and coming oh-so-close in so many other sports, we kicked in the door to the intramural world with a competitive overall 3rd place finish! NOW, we MUST rise up & win the ultimate intramural prize: the TORCH! This requires two facets: WINNING & most importantly, PARTICIPATION! To win the Torch, we MUST out-participate the likes of Bethune, Stong, and McLaughlin Colleges.

You’re probably wondering how being a member of Calumet Athletics can possibly benefit you. Last year, we handed out a number of prizes throughout the year including NBA & NHL jerseys! Your name may even be etched into Calumet history as an Athlete of the Month, Rookie of the Year, or the highest honour, Athlete of the Year!

How do I sign up, you ask? Easy. Our office is located in Room 118 Calumet College. You can pick up a sign-up sheet there or submit it online, shoot us an email at athletics@calumetcc.ca or cacsport@yorku.ca, or check out our Facebook group, Calumet Athletics 2008-2009.

Think you can do more? Then submit an application to become part of the Calumet Athletics Council (CAC). Intramurals requires a lot of time & hard work to organize and we could always use a helping hand!

Now that you know the basics, let’s go out and make this the BEST year Calumet Athletics has seen in its history!
