Project Summary
Our project represents a collaborative journey that began with a challenge question about hydrological risk mapping and the design of flood-tolerant riverside parks. Our response to this question is our design for a park situated in the rural Chilean community of San Nicholas. Our park design addresses the contemporary needs of this site through its focus on the restoration of natural ecosystems by re-establishing threatened native plant and tree species throughout the park grounds and the stabilization of the existing riverbank – so that it can weather seasonal (and extraordinary) flooding events.
