Challenge Question
How do we create a safe digital hub (integrating one or all of the following platforms: website, app, YouTube, Instagram) that allows kids (grades 3 to 7) to write and share stories, both collaboratively and independently?
Partner: Story Planet
Project Summary
Story Planet’s workshops help students develop skills and confidence in writing and explore a variety of storytelling techniques. By sharing their writing with an engaged audience, kids learn that their ideas and opinions are interesting and meaningful to others and that they can be part of a larger, public conversation. By engaging with students’ writing as an audience, adults are able to hear from our youngest citizens. The goal of this project is to create a safe digital hub for students (grades 3-7) to write, collaborate on, and share stories. Team members might be interested in design, youth/community engagement, writing, and education, and have background knowledge in web design, app development, and/or media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram. Excellent organizational and communication skills are also an asset.

Organizational Profile
Story Planet is a non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying voices and improving literacy skills through non-traditional creative learning experiences with children and youth in under-resourced schools and communities. Our team of professional writers and artists facilitate high-energy workshops that integrate art, writing, and performance and result in a bound book, film, or play.
