Challenge Question
How can alumni programs better anticipate the needs of students prior to graduation?
Partner: Alumni Engagement
Project Summary
Participation in the York community does not need to end at graduation. York’s 360,000 alumni are a large and diverse group of individuals with the potential to greatly impact the lives and careers of current and future York students. In this social and technological challenge, a research team is invited to think about grand and modest ways to both motivate alumni to engage with students and encourage students to participate in existing alumni programs. The research team for this project might consider engaging with students at various stages of their academic journeys in order to understand and anticipate their needs – as well as exploring the current barriers that different students face when accessing alumni programs that could serve their needs.
The research team might also inquire about the current suite of alumni programs with the goal of recommending improvements that would enhance the engagement potential of current and future alumni. The research team for this project might be composed of individuals with interests or specializations in business, advertising, marketing, ethnography, environmental studies, social work, equity, design, and computer engineering.
