Black Creek First Year Network

We know that the transition between high school and University can be daunting. As part of our goal to make sure that every student feels encouraged to continue their post-secondary studies, we provide the following supports to York students residing in the community.

First Year Resources

As a first year student, it can be hard to navigate all the supports and services at York when you need to access them. By being a part of Black Creek First Year Network, we share timely resources to help make sure you have everything you need as you move through your first year. For example, we provide you with checklists to make sure you’ve got everything you need before the first day of class and tips on when and where to buy textbooks at discounted rates.

Students in the Black Creek FYN can also connect with the Community Projects Coordinator to ask their questions. Some things we can discuss:

  • Application reviews: OSAP, scholarships, post-graduate programs
  • Enrollment support: we can provide some guidance on balancing your courses and degree planning
  • On Campus jobs

Workshops

Once you’ve accepted your admissions offer from York University, we’ll contact you to invite you to participate in the workshops to help you get acquainted with York and gear you up for success.  Here are some we typically offer:
