The Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLAC) at York University is pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 TLN Telelatino Prize for outstanding scholarly papers in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.Prizes were awarded to Tamara Toledo for her paper "Space and Recognition: Curating Latin American Art in Toronto" and to Jean Pierre Marchant for his short film "A Life on the Borderlands."This year an honorable mention was also awarded to Asheda Dwyer for her poem "A Personal Dispatch from Slavery in Chile."

This year's numerous submissions, including essays, films and poems, were evaluated by CERLAC’s Awards Committee. The prize-winning entries will be made available online as part of CERLAC's TLN Telelatino Winning Essays Series.  All 2020 entries represent high-calibre scholarly work at their authors' respective levels of study and merit recognition as worthy of candidacy for this prize.

The TLN Telelatino Prize was established by TLN in 2009. This $1,000 Prize is typically awarded annually to one graduate student and one undergraduate student at York University in recognition of an outstanding scholarly essay or other scholarly work of relevance to the area of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
