The Paavo and Aino Lukkari Fieldwork Research Award

The Award functions as a cost fund to support a number of graduate students’ research and academic training costs, for complementary activities central to the completion of their research. Award(s) will be granted to one or more graduate students annually, to provide support for discrete, concrete activities such as, for example: fieldwork expenses; specialized equipment or software; specialized training (language instruction); etc. Multiple awards of varying amounts will be granted annually with a maximum of $10,000 per project.

  • Note:
    • In years when fewer than three applications are received, the committee may choose not to offer a Fieldwork Research Award  
    • Students may only receive The Paavo and Aino Lukkari Fieldwork Research Award once, if the award received was of or above $3,000

WHO CAN APPLY?

York graduate students in good standing who are:

– MA or PhD students at YORK University,

– Canadian citizens or Ontario permanent residents; and

– Can demostrate financial need

Note: A report detailing how award funds were spent is required upon completion of the research activity.
