CIFAL York Multimedia Unit

CIFAL York multimedia unit is supporting the creation of multi media training tools and products. These products are used to enhance CIFAL York's training activities.

In particular the multimedia unit supports:

  • Designing and developing multimedia content for training which can include presentations, videos, games, visualization and various interactive modules.
  • Providing audio-visual support for in person, remote or hybrid training sessions.
  • Recording training sessions for social media channels including CIFAL York's You Tube channel.
  • Managing and maintaining CIFAL York's e-learning and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Integrating multimedia and interactive tools and technologies into CIFAL York's training sessions. This includes use of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), virtual world, serious games, interactive evaluation tools.

Peyman Naeemi is currently coordinating and leading CIFAL York's multimedia unit.

Peyman is a multimedia specialists with 10 years of experience.

Peyman is a PhD student at York University.

COP 28 Documentary

Directed by Peyman, a documentary created in partnership between CIFAL York and a number of community based organizations focusing on sustainability will be screened at COP 28 in UAE on December 11, 2023.

A Faithful Commitment to Sustainability

A Faithful Commitment to Sustainability is a short documentary film directed, shot, edited and produced by Peyman Naeemi. In collaboration with CIFAL York, Greenpeace, Ummah for earth, and EnviroMuslims, the film examines an innovative, community-based sustainability program that a group of volunteers at the Jaffari Community Center (JCC) in Vaughan, Ont., undertook during the holy month of Ramadan while hosting and feeding more than 2,000 individuals every night. The film shows how the community was able to significantly minimize food and plastic waste and take major steps towards contributing to sustainability goals at the community level.
The film enjoyed the privilege of being screened twice during COP28 in Dubai, with one screening taking place at the Canada Pavilion. Additionally, the director, Peyman Naeemi, participated in a panel discussion at the Faith Pavilion, where he delivered a speech highlighting the film's green messages and discussed the potential of digital media in promoting awareness about faith and sustainability.

At the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP28, the documentary garnered significant acclaim during its screenings at both the Canada Pavilion and Faith Pavilion. Its distinctive subject matter and efficacy in raising awareness among faith-based communities regarding successful environmentally sustainable endeavors were widely applauded.

Peyman Naeemi, the director of the documentary film "A Faithful Commitment to Sustainability," participated in a panel discussion at the Faith Pavilion during the COP 28. Additionally, Peyman presented details about the production process of the documentary and outlined future projects of CIFAL York's Multimedia unit.

The CIFAL York Multimedia Unit is proud to announce the completion of its latest production: a 27-minute animation titled "Jonathan". Directed by Peyman, this inspiring film tells the story of a seagull committed to making a positive impact. This project was made possible through a collaboration between CIFAL York Multimedia, the Olive Tree Foundation, and the Jaffari Community Center.

CIFAL York Multimedia's Project: Serious Game on Environmental and Disaster Management

CIFAL York Multimedia is pleased to announce the completion of its latest innovative project—a serious game designed to educate and engage players on Environmental and Disaster Management within the challenging context of a pandemic. This interactive game, crafted to enhance public awareness and decision-making in disaster scenarios, is now finalized and will soon be available for public access online.

This project reflects CIFAL York's commitment to merging education and digital engagement to address urgent environmental and public health challenges. The development of this game has been supported by extensive research and interdisciplinary collaboration, making it a valuable addition to educational resources in the field.

In addition to the launch of the game, CIFAL York Multimedia is proud to share that an accompanying research article detailing the game's design and its public health implications has been published in the esteemed Journal of Public Health. This publication not only underscores the project's academic contribution but also highlights its potential to influence disaster preparedness and environmental education on a broader scale.

Animated film "Jonathan" produced by CIFAL York screening at canada Pavilion at COP 29, Azerbaijan

On November 13th, the Canada Pavilion hosted a screening of the animation film "Jonathan," created by Peyman Naeemi. The event drew an engaged audience, whose insightful feedback highlighted the film's innovative blend of storytelling and environmental advocacy. The director expressed his gratitude to Environment and Climate Change Canada for providing the platform to present his work. This successful screening underscores his passion for animation and storytelling, as well as his commitment to connecting with audiences who share a deep concern for creativity and environmental issues.

Drone-Based Thermal Mapping Launched at York Keele Campus by CIFAL York

CIFAL York marked the launch of a Drone-Based Thermal Mapping initiative at York Keele Campus, supporting York University's ambitious sustainability goals, including achieving net zero emissions by 2040 and enhancing energy efficiency. This project brings together a wide range of university units—including York Sustainability, Utilities & Energy Management, Facility Services, Community Safety, and Risk Management—with vital support from colleagues at the Lassonde School of Engineering. The operations team members are, Dr Ali Asgary, Peyman Naeemi, Ramin Sharifi, and Mahbod Aarabi, whose efforts are instrumental in driving this innovative sustainability initiative forward.
