Post-Earthquake Recovery & Reconstruction International Summer School: Kahramanmaras & Hatay Türkiye

ABOUT

The Post Earthquake Recovery & Reconstruction Summer School aims at exploring post earthquake recovery and reconstruction following the February 2023 earthquake in Türkiye. The Kahramanmaras and Hatay regions, serve as the perfect study areas for this purpose as these were the regions heavily impacted by the earthquakes with significant number of recovery and reconstruction efforts and projects. The summer school will include informative lectures, professionally guided site visits, meetings with recovery and reconstruction stakeholders’ representatives, outcome oriented and facilitated workshops. Field investigations and visits will be the core part of this summer school. The main goal of the summer school is to provide participants with a through understanding and knowledge of post earthquake recovery and reconstruction based on field observations and analysis. To achieve this each day of the summer school will be allocated to one key component of post earthquake recovery and reconstruction. Each day will end with a reflection workshop in which participants are divided into working groups and share their findings and observations.  A microcredit certificate will be issued to all participants from CIFAL York & UNITAR.
