The Research Workshop on Critical Issues in International Refugee Law, (CIIRL) brings together a number of distinguished high court judges and leading academics in the field from around the world, as well as senior government officials and other interested parties, to consider a number of critical issues in international refugee law.
The gathering is being held at York University, Toronto, Canada, on Thursday, May 1st, and Friday, May 2nd, 2008. A number of academic papers and judicial commentaries will provide the context and background for an in-depth roundtable discussion on the key issues confronting international refugee law today. At the conclusion of the Research Workshop, key issues will hopefully be fully explored and any areas requiring further work and development will be identified. The outcome of the deliberations at the Research Workshop, including the academic papers and judicial commentaries, will be published in an edited volume.
