Dr. Florian Koch (Department of History and Social Sciences Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia) will be presenting “Urban planning and governance processes at the city fringe: The case of Barranquilla, Colombia” as part of SUBURBTALKS on Tuesday, June 26 from 2:00-3:00pm in Room 626 in the York Research Tower.
This presentation will report on recent developments in the metropolitan region of Barranquilla,Colombia and seeks to explain the driving forces behind the dynamic urban expansionprocess which took place in the last decade. The interplay between the different actors, the polity framework, the politics and policies of urban planning and its spatial outcomes will be emphasized.
