A collaborative research project between CITY and Goethe University in Frankfurt was recently feature in a Globe and Mail article, “City’ or ‘town’? Richmond Hill debates what’s in a name.” The article discusses the current debate in Richmond Hill regarding a potential change in the municipality’s name from town to city, and references findings from the research project on a case study of Markham’s urban identity.
The research project, “Suburban identities in the global city between competition and cooperation: Toronto and Frankfurt”, is being led by Ute Lehrer (Faculty of Environmental Studies), Roger Keil (Faculty of Environmental Studies), and other collaborators from Goethe University.
