Feb. 1st – CITY Seminar – Casino City?

As part of the City Institute’s “City Seminar Series”, this seminar entitled “Casino City?” will feature a panel that will critically address the current agenda to build a ‘mega-casino’ in Toronto. The seminar will be held on Friday February 1, 2013 from 12:30 to 2:30 in room 140, HNES Building, York University.

Panelists will discuss why casinos are bad economic and social policy, the political economy of casino development in Ontario, and the political strategies resisting casino development in the city. Panelists include:

Paula Fletcher (City Councillor – Ward 30, Toronto-Danforth)
Maureen Lynett (Community Activist, No Casino Toronto)
Kevin Stolarick (Research Director, Martin Prosperity Institute)

Steven Tufts (Dept. of Geography, York University)
