Undergraduate Affiliates

CITY offers undergraduate students a number of opportunities and resources, among them:  seminar attendance, workshops, an annual student conference, membership status, work space and social activities. Micah Meredith
Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies

Micah Meredith is a third-year Urban Studies student at York University and a general member of the Federation of Urban Studies Students (FUSS). His interests include walkability, localization, community gardens, urban agriculture, sustainability, and human-scale cities. Micah aims to continue his education with the eventual goal of becoming a professor.


Marc Muhabir
Computer Science at York University and Executive assistant at HOUSE Ontario

Marc Mahabir is executive assistant for House. He is a 3rd year student at York University, majoring in Computer Science. Hailing from a Caribbean Island, Trinidad and Tobago, he is inspired by the objective of House to create affordable housing for students. With this organization he can make an active effort in helping my Caribbean people acquire a more comfortable and affordable home away from home.


Sara Ajori

Sara Ajori
Geography & Urban Studies

Sara Ajori is an Associate Editor of the Toronto Urban Journal and a fourth-year geography and urban studies student at York University. Her interest is to combine urban aspects of the ‘city’ with its architectural facets and her main concentration is to highlight the architect’s role in designing socially and environmentally sustainable spaces that fit within their surrounding environment. Sara intends on continuing her work at a graduate level.


David Barankin

David Barankin
Urban Studies

David Barankin is an Associate Editor of the Toronto Urban Journal and a fourth-year urban studies student at York University. He is the minister of publicity for the Federation of Urban Studies Students (FUSS). He’s interested in issues of mobility as well as safety and security in the city. He hopes to pursue a master’s in urban planning once he graduates.


Justine Bonczek

Justine Bonczek
Urban Studies

Justine Bonczek is an Associate Editor of the Toronto Urban Journal and a third-year urban studies student at York University. She is also on the board for the Federation of Urban Studies Students and a volunteer at the Toronto Lesbian and Gay Archives. Her work explores the intersections between gender, race and class in urban centers. Justine intends to continue her work at the graduate level.


Nicholas Del Prete

Geography & Urban Studies

Nicholas Del Prete is a third year Geography & Urban Studies undergraduate student and a General Member of the Federation of Urban Studies Students. His interests include transit, walkability, public space & environmental sustainability/preservation. Nicholas intends to continue exploring these themes at the graduate level


Brandon Takayuki Hillier

Brandon Hillier
HBA Candidate, Urban Studies 

Brandon Takayuki Hillier is the Managing Editor of The Toronto Urban Journal and is a fourth-year urban studies student at York University. He is also a part of the executive committee of The City Institute as the undergraduate representative. His work employs a political economy approach to questions of political space, territory and governance. Brandon intends on continuing his work at the graduate level and work toward a PhD.

Emily Lim is an Urban Studies major (Honours Specialized Bachelor of Arts) from the Department of Social Sciences (LA&PS). She is also an internal/external coordinator for the Federation of Urban Studies Students (FUSS). Her research interests include equitable urban planning through urban design and policy, affordable and liveable housing, and environmental racism in racialized communities. Emily hopes to use a social justice approach in seeing through policy and practice in urban planning.  


Rabia Munir

Rabia Munir
Geography & Urban Studies

Rabia Munir is Deputy Editor of the Toronto Urban Journal and is a fourth-year geography and urban studies student at York University. She is also the President of the Federation of Urban Studies Students (FUSS). Her areas of interest include: environmental aesthetics, landscape ecology, social justice and deindustrialized space. Rabia is fascinated with socio-ecological production of communities, and how these spaces play role into cultural expressions. She hopes to research these themes deeper at a graduate level.


Alvin Wong

Theatre Studies

Alvin Wong is a Theatre Studies major with a Creative Writing minor looking to earn a certificate in Urban Studies. He is interested in the interdisciplinary nature inherent in studying urban spaces and city life. With this, he hopes to create works that can combine the arts with the fieldwork of urban studies.
