Environmental Justice in Toronto? In a joint project sponsored by the City of Toronto and York University’s City Institute, Faculty of Environmental Studies and Institute for Research and Innovation in Sustainability, Melissa Ollevier and Erica Tsang examine environmental equity and diversity in Toronto. In a city with growing income disparity and ethno-cultural diversity, it is little wonder that environmental and sustainability issues are also class-specific and racialized. This study looks at historical trends in environmental justice and racism in Toronto, traces some possible future challenges and charts recommendations for future action.
