Book Launch of Mia Spiro’s “Anti-Nazi Modernism: The Challenges of Resistance in 1930s Fiction” – February 13, 2013

Mia Spiro is currently a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow at the Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies and a Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University’s Crown Center for Jewish Studies.  She earned her MA and PhD from York University, as well as a graduate diploma in Jewish studies and Advanced Hebrew.  A former fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, she is working on a project titled Modern Monsters:  Golems, Vampires, and the Ghosts of War, for which she won the Ontario Government’s John Charles Polanyi Prize.  Sprio, the author of Anti-Nazi Modernism:  The Challenges of Resistance in 1930s Fiction, has published work on antifascist fiction, representations of Jews in the interwar period, and Holocaust survivor memoirs with the Azrieli Foundation.
