NEW: The Oscar Yolles Fellowship in Jewish Studies

The Oscar Yolles Fellowship in Jewish Studies is awarded to an entering graduate student in Jewish Studies. Recipients must demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in Jewish Studies Scholarship, enroll in the Jewish Studies Graduate Diploma and be or become engaged in activities at the Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies. This fellowship is available to domestic or international graduate students. Preference will be given to PhD students. If awarded the fellowship, PhD students will receive the fellowship for up to two (2) years while Masters student will receive the fellowship for one (1) year. Incoming graduate students in Jewish Studies will be automatically considered for the fellowship.

The value of the award is $12,000 CAD.

Awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student for an outstanding essay in Canadian Jewish Studies.
12Metro Toronto Lodge B’Nai Brith Scholarship in Canadian Jewish StudiesThis prize is awarded for the best essay in the area of Canadian Jewish studies submitted in any course at York. The prize is given to the student with the best essay in the area of Canadian Jewish studies submitted in any course at York. Essays to be submitted by course
13Hy and Helen Bergel Prize for Excellence in Classical Jewish StudiesGiven annually to a student who excels in Biblical and Rabbinic studies, i.e. humanities courses 2810, 3810, Hebrew courses 3320, 3330, 3370 and any course deemed to be acceptable by the Centre for Jewish Studies Awards Committee.
14Joseph Zbili Memorial Prize in HebrewThis book prize, established in memory of Joseph Zbili, coordinator of Hebrew studies, will be awarded annually to an outstanding student in an advanced Hebrew course (3000 or 4000 level)
15A. C. Silber Award for Holocaust and Eastern European Jewish StudiesGraduate or undergraduate awards are available for study and/or research in the area of Holocaust and Eastern European Jewish Studies.
16Berek and Regina Gertner Bursary in Holocaust StudiesEstablished by Berek and Regina Gertner, their family and friends in support of Holocaust Studies. Given annually to a graduate or undergraduate student who has demonstrated  interest in Holocaust studies by virtue of course work or research projects.  The award may be Used for study in Israel and is based on demonstrated financial need.
17Abraham Isaac Silver ScholarshipAwarded bi-annually to a York student specializing in, or interested in, the field of Judaic studies, who wishes to further their studies at an institution of higher learning in Israel
18David and Lois Buckstein BursaryThis bursary is available to students in Jewish Studies.
19Evelyn Gollin Bursary for a student in Jewish StudiesThis bursary will be given annually to a student in Jewish Studies. The Evelyn Gollin Bursary is established in memory of Evelyn Gollin, a member of the Toronto Jewish Community. She held academia in high regard, and valued Jewish education and culture.
20Israel Mida and Family Award in Jewish StudiesThe Israel Mida and Family Award will be awarded annually to one or more graduate or undergraduate students. Preference will be given to undergraduate students pursuing a BA in Jewish Studies.
21Michael and Rena Buckstein BursaryThis bursary is available to students in Jewish Studies.
22Tom and Mary Beck Jewish Studies AwardThis award is given annually on the basis of achievement and demonstrated financial need to one or more graduate or undergraduate students enrolled in at least one Jewish Studies course.
23Dr. Percy and Bernice Singer Awardthis award is given annually to undergraduate or graduate students in Jewish studies with preference given to those who are enrolled in the School of Kinesiology and Health Science at York or involved in the Sport and Recreation program.
24Benarroch-Hazan Sephardi Studies AwardThis scholarship was donated by Mr. Georges Benarroch, and will be awarded annually to one or more students.
25Benarroch – Hazan Essay Prize in Sephardic StudiesAwarded annually for an outstanding essay (s) on a Sephardic topic written in any course.  The prize is given in honour of the Benarroch and Hazan families
26Joseph and Jack Bitton Award in Sephari StudiesThe Joseph and Jack Bitton Award will be given annually to a student in Sephardi studies who demonstrates academic merit.
27Fleischer Awards at the Centre for Jewish StudiesThe Fleischer Awards at the Centre for Jewish Studies have been created by a generous donation from the Willie and Mildred Fleischer Charitable Foundation. These awards will annually support three outstanding students. The first award will go to a student in the Jewish Teacher Education Program – priority will be given to students in their entering year. The second award will be granted to a graduate student in the Jewish Studies Program. The third award will be given to a student enrolled in the BA in Jewish Studies who demonstrates academic merit and financial need.
28Henry & Barbara Bank Fellowship in Jewish StudiesThe Fellowship will be awarded annually to one graduate student pursuing the Graduate Diploma in Jewish Studies who demonstrates academic merit
29Hershel and Michel Recht Faculty of Graduate Studies Award in Jewish StudiesThe award will be given to one or two students in the Faculty of Graduate Studies enrolled in the Graduate Diploma Program in Advanced Hebrew and Jewish Studies
30Jerry and Tammy Balitsky Graduate Award in Honour of Martin Lockshin in Jewish StudiesThe Jerry and Tammy Balitsky Graduate Award in Honour of Martin Lockshiri will be given to a graduate student who is enrolled in a Graduate Diploma Program in Jewish Studies or who is otherwise affiliated with the Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies.
31Joseph and Katie klasner Graduate FellowshipThe Josephand Katie Klasner Fellowship in Jewish Studies recognizes outstanding scholarship while providing financial assistance to a student demonstrating need. The fellowship will provide the opportunity for a student, enrolled in The Centre for Jewish Studies Graduate Diploma Program, to work closely with outstanding scholars in the field.
32Mark and Helen Gross Award in Jewish StudiesThe Mark and Helen Gross Award will be given to one or two students affiliated with the Centre for Jewish Studies and in the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
33Scharge Family Fellowship in Jewish StudiesThe Fellowship will be awarded annually to one graduate student pursuing the Graduate Diploma in Jewish Studies who demonstrates academic merit
34Avrom Silver Graduate Student Research Fund AwardThe Silver Family Graduate Student Research Fund  will support the research of graduate students affiliated with the Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies. The fund will be used for travel costs associated with graduate student research in all areas of Jewish Studies or for enhancing equipment used for Research purposes
35Samuel G. Rosen Memorial PrizeA book prize is awarded for the outstanding essay in Judaic Studies by a year 3 or 4 student
