Psychology Undergraduate Mentorship Program (P.U.M.P.)

PUMP is a graduate student organization founded in 2017. We collaborate with York University's Department of Psychology. Our mission is to provide mentorship to undergraduate students interested in graduate studies in Psychology. We pair undergraduates with graduate student mentors in programs they are interested in pursuing and who have similar backgrounds so a productive, warm, mentorship relationship can develop and thrive. We also hold events that help build community among mentees and mentors, and inform students about the graduate school application process as well as what it's like to be a graduate student overall.

Mentor Expectations:

  1. Mentors must attend an orientation session
  2. Must meet at least 4 times over the school year with their mentee
  3. Must provide feedback to the organization on mentor/mentee relationship and any suggestions for improvement
  4. Will attend workshops when available to contribute to discussions of graduate school life and the application process

Mentee Expectations:

  1. Must meet at least 4 times over the school year with their mentor
  2. Will communicate with PUMP about any dissatisfaction in the mentor-mentee relationship
  3. Will respond to emails about meetings in an appropriate amount of time
  4. Will provide feedback on mentor-mentee relationship at the end of the year
