Judging Criteria

Criteria 1: Potential Impact

a) Need – Does the product fulfill a current need in the health industry?

Level Three:

The product clearly identifies a modern need in the health industry, including the following:

  • The industry/sector that needs the product.
  • The people impacted by the product.
  • What would happen if the product did not exist? What is the long-term impact of the issue at hand?

Level Two:

The product somewhat identifies a need in the health industry and fulfills one or two of the Level Three requirements.

Level One:

A need is not identified by this product.

b) Impact – Does the product have a positive impact on users?

Level Three:

The product is shown to positively impact the user in a visible manner and it is clear how it makes the area of need less challenging.

Level Two:

The product does not significantly impact the user (i.e., they could live life/function normally without product).

Level One:

The impact is not discussed.

Criteria 2: Creativity

a) Clarity – Is the use and design of the product clear and easy to understand?

Level Three:

The product use and design are well articulated and easy to comprehend.

Level Two:

The logic behind product design and function is somewhat communicated, though further explanation may be required.

Level One:

The product use and design is unclear and/or difficult to understand.

b) Design – Is the proposal design unique and eye-catching?

Level Three:

The proposal is eye-catching and captivates the audience with its uniqueness.

Level Two:

The proposal is interesting, but not captivating or unique.

Level One:

The proposal is lacking creativity.

Criteria 3: Innovation

a) Novelty – Is the product original?

Level Three:

The product is original or proposes an upgrade to existing technology in a novel way.

Level Two:

The product is very similar to a widely known
product and does not propose any upgrades to it.

Level One:

The product already exists and is widely known.
