Graduation Awards
Head of Bethune College's Prize for Academic Excellence
Awarded to the graduating Norman Bethune College student in any Honours program who achieves the highest grades in their final year of full-time study.
Dr. Emily Stowe Award
This annual award of $250.00 is made to the graduating Bethune College-affiliated student in any Honours program, who has achieved the highest grades in their final year of full-time study.
Dr. Wendell MacLeod Award
This annual award of $250.00 will be given to a graduating Bethune College-affiliated student, in any Honours program, who has demonstrated commitment to internationalist, health and society concerns or community leadership.
Bethune College Academic Leadership and Community Building Scholarship
The successful candidate will have served two or more years in academic student support positions (e.g. PASS leader, Peer Tutor, Peer Mentor, program coordinator, etc.) and demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities. The candidate will have made an exemplary contribution to Bethune academic support activities (such as leading, innovating, coordinating or creating programs, activities or initiatives) and helped to create a welcoming, supportive and inclusive community.
Bethune College Academic Community Building Scholarship
Candidate must have a cGPA of 7.5 or higher, at least one year of superior service within the college, and demonstrate a strong commitment to peer support, student transition and inclusive academic community building. Strong candidates will demonstrate responsibility, initiative, and reliability. Scholarships are only granted in years where a suitable candidate is identified.
Continuing Awards
Bethune Prize for Outstanding Contribution to College Life
This annual award of $200 and a certificate of recognition will be given to a student who has made outstanding contributions to the College's community life (social, political, educational, athletic, etc.)
Bethune Prize for Outstanding Contribution from a First Year Student
This annual award of $100 and a certificate of recognition will be given to a student who has made outstanding contributions to College's community life (social, political, educational, athletic, etc.) during their first year at York University.
