Constructed in the 1920s on what was once private property, Glendon Campus was the brainchild of E.R. Wood, a prominent Canadian investor from the early 1900s who founded Dominion Securities. In the years that followed, the Manor—which was initially meant to be a family home—was utilized as a temporary home for courses in forestry, art, law, and botany. York University was ultimately founded in 1959 because of these efforts.
